February 22nd, 2015, 11:00 AM

As part of Silicon Valley Reads, childrens’ author Todd Parr will be sharing his colorful books. He’ll give a presentation about his life and work, read some stories, play a few games, and of course sign his books! It will be an amazing day with Todd – in fact, I’ll just let him introduce himself now:

During his visit to Village House of Books, Todd will be focusing on the following books:

THE PEACE BOOK delivers positive and hopeful messages of peace in an accessible, child-friendly format featuring Todd Parr’s trademark bold, bright colors and silly scenes. Targeted to young children first beginning to read, this book delivers a timely and timeless message about the importance of tolerance.

IT’S OKAY TO BE DIFFERENT cleverly delivers the important messages of acceptance, understanding, and confidence in an accessible, child-friendly format.  It is designed to encourage early literacy, enhance emotional development, celebrate multiculturalism, and promote character growth.

IT’S OKAY TO MAKE MISTAKES embraces life’s happy accidents, the mistakes and mess-ups that can lead to self discovery. Todd Parr encourages kids to try new things, experiment, and dare to explore new paths.  From coloring outside the lines and creating a unique piece of art to forgetting an umbrella but making a new friend, each page offers a kid-friendly take on the importance of taking chances, trying new things, and embracing life, mistakes and all.

THE THANKFUL BOOK celebrates all the little things children can give thanks for. From everyday activities like reading and bath time to big family meals together and special alone time between parent and child, Todd inspires readers to remember all of life’s special moments. The perfect book to treasure and share, around the holidays and throughout the year.

THE UNDERWEAR BOOK is a surprising and silly book about underwear.  It features such wisdom as “DO wear fancy underwear under your dress,” and “DON’T hang upside down on the monkey bars.” Illustrated with Todd Parr’s trademark bold, bright colors and silly scenes!

Animation fans may be interested to see some of the cartoon shorts that Todd Parr has created for Sesame Street.  We scoured the Internets (OK: we looked on Youtube) and found some samples of his work:

We hope that you’ll join us in welcoming Todd Parr to Village House of Books this Sunday!
