In addition to our fantastic book selection, Village House of Books likes to feature the work of local artists. Many of our visitors have been asking about the paintings currently in our store, so today we will introduce you to Yuvak Tuladhar.
Originally from Nepal, Yuvak Tuladhar is a San Francisco Bay Area artist. He paints from his studio on the outskirts of Santa Rosa, drawing on the energy and rich history of Northern California. From the streets of San Francisco to the stunning hills of Napa Valley and Sonoma Wine County, Tuladhar is inspired by the vibrant life and ever-changing movement of each day.
Tuladhar is formally trained and has been painting for over thirty-five years. He has an MFA in Portrait painting from Benares Hindu University, India, and an MFA in Fiber Arts from Savannah College of Art and Design. He has had fifteen one person shows and fourteen two person shows. Tuladhar has also participated in group exhibitions at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco in collaboration with Deva Premal, Miten music group, UC Berkeley, San Jose State University, Sunflower Caffé Gallery in Sonoma, and Lotus Within Gallery in San Francisco.A member of the Artists’ Guild of San Francisco, he has also been the recipient of several prestigious awards and recognitions, including a Fulbright-Hayes Scholarship.
